What is the Helen Ruffin Bowl Reading Bowl?

River's Edge Elementary School will be competes every year in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl. We are the reigning champions in Clayton County and we look forward to achieving another county level win! More importantly, our goal is always to take it to the next level and win at the District Level and possibly State Level.

There is an elementary and a middle school division. The day opens with a parade of all of the groups in the gymnasium. Groups are encouraged to wear matching colors and have a banner to display while they parade and as they are seated in their section.

Following the parade and opening remarks, the students will follow their schedules where they will compete in six rounds of competition with 10 questions in each round.

The top two schools in both the elementary and middle school divisions receive awards and will advance to the next round of competition, which usually takes place the following week at Clayton State University.
